Doctoral degree and supervision

Doctoral candidates working on a research project at the Environmental Health Center (EHC) at Helmholtz Munich participate in the training program (MD students: 1 year, PhD students: 3 years).

Doctoral degrees are awarded by the Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU) or Technical University Munich (TUM).

Students aiming for a degree in translational lung research can obtain a Ph.D. in Medical Research as part of the Munich Medical Research School (MMRS) by participating in a structured Ph.D. program such as the Environmental Health and Lung Research School (EHLRS).

The EHLRS is part of the Helmholtz Graduate School Environmental Health - HELENA. Doctoral students at the EHC therefore benefit from further support and education opportunities offered by HELENA.

All students are mentored by a supervisor at their institute, who is working with the students on their scientific project and career development plan. Additionally, students are supported by an individual Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC) and benefit from annual TAC meetings.
